Guests have always felt happy here. Even for Queen Victoria of England, the Coburg region was her favorite place to stay outside of her empire. She wrote the following about Rosenau Castle in her diary: "If I were not who I am, I would have my real home here." Today, this castle is a much visited sight in the Coburg region.
There is a great variety of offers for culture holiday makers. Nowhere else will you find so many fortresses and castles in such a small area as in the Coburg region - many of which are still privately owned. Not to mention the picturesque villages. A gem is the medieval village of Seßlach, surrounded by walls with towers and gates. When strolling through the streets and alleys, you will notice the special atmosphere of the "good old times".
Do you like museums? Then you will find a great variety here: the Equipment Museum of the Coburg region the "Alte Schäferei" in Ahorn, the Slate and Tile Museum in Dörfles-Esbach, the world famous Hummel figurines in the Porcelain Museum of the Goebel Company in Rödental, the Local History Museums in Seßlach und Bad Rodach, the Peace Museum in Meeder, the Museum of the German Toy Industry in Neustadt bei Coburg, and in Tambach Castle in Weitramsdorf the Hunting and Fishing Museum with a game park and the Bavarian Hunting Falcon Court.
Many hiking trails connect the most beautiful regions of Coburg also including the Planets Trail of Untersiemau. Observation towers enable views from the Main valley to the Thuringian Forest, and from the Rhone to Franconian Forest. Well marked cycling and hiking trails, an 18-hole golf course, hot springs, indoor and outdoor pools, half-pipes and stables are only part of the possibilities for active holiday makers.
Catch the spirit of the region and the people. Mischievous, happy, unbelievably hospitable and never averse to partying - this describes the people who live here with us. Allow yourself to catch this spirit.
