Walking Tour to the Summer House of Friedrich Rückert- around the Goldbergsee and past the Ernst-Steiner School back to Callenberg Castle.
This eventful walk (takes about 2.5 hours) starts at the castle's stairway. Coming from the castle, you will meet the path to the parking lot. Here you turn left and continue down the hill (From your perspective: the left path of the three). This forest path takes you to an underpass of the main road in the direction of Bad Rodach. On the way there, you will pass by a beautiful meadow with a large tree and a swing. This place is well suited for taking a rest if you already have the castle tour behind you! Up to the underpass, the path has a few branches which you shouldn't take. After the underpass, you will run into Goldbergsee which you will now "circumnavigate" to the right. After passing the newly erected dam, stay to the right and follow the old alley of trees up the hill. By the way, Friedrich Rückert planted these trees personally! At the end of the path is the author's summer house. Here, you have a beautiful view of Callenberg Castle and the Coburg Fortress. Friedrich Rückerts beloved summer house served him as a refuge that was close to nature. Not far away, in the nearby district of Neuses, there is a dwelling in which he lived as of the year 1838. His great-grandson Klaus Rückert had a memorial setup here, which you can view after prior registration by telephone (09561/66308).
On the way back, go around Goldbergsee keeping to the right once again. After a bridge over an offshoot of the lake, you cross the main road towards the Rudolf-Steiner School. When you reach the parking lot of the school, a road leads up to your starting point.
