Tour of the Romantic Castles

Starting in Coburg, the cycling trail goes through Lautertal and up through Tambach Forest to Thuringia's Emstadt with magnificent views of the Thuringian Forest, then down to Froschgrundsee (also called the 'Schönstädtspeicher'), and back through the charming Froschgrund in the Itz valley.

This is a pretty tour round about Coburg. The route is very well marked with red dots on white backgrounds. The tour leads across the highest mountains in the Coburg region, for example via Lauterberg Mountain, Sennigshohe Heights, Georgsberg Mountain and, naturally Coburg Fortress. 20% is made up of trail, 10% road and the remainder is on gravel and forest highway.
The best thing is to travel the tour counter-clockwise.

Over Mountain and Valley with Oomph.

Mit Schmackes über Berg und Tal
This is a difficult tour for ambitious racing bicyclists who have that extra oomph. They have to overcome an elevation difference of 2,300 metres over a stretch that is almost 110 km long. The route takes you from Coburg via Judenbach into the narrow valleys of Thuringian Forest. The route is on asphalt its entire length.
