Group Excursions

Sights - Surrounding Area

Afternoon Program
Anyone wanting to explore the area surrounding the fortress city will stumble on a very extensive variety. Here is a small selection:
Glass Art at the Highest Level
Glaskunst The European Museum of Glass Art in the Rosenau Orangery (Rödental) presents fantastic jars, sculptures and objects. From there, it is only a few steps to Rosenau Castle about which Queen Victoria of Great Britain once said: "If I were not who I am, I would have my real home here."

World Famous
Hummel The M. I. Hummel Information Centre and Porcelain Museum also awaits you in Rödental. The world-famous Hummel figurines have always been made here by the traditional Geobel porcelain manufacturer.

German Toy Museum

SpielzeugmuseumYour group should pay a visit to the historic Christmas Museum in the old Christmas factory in Neustadt by Coburg. The Christmas market there is open all year round. In the same city, the German Toy Museum invites you to a travel through time in the world of children's dreams. Besides many other attractions, the museum also has a unique folklore doll collection with 800 dolls from 100 countries.

Spectacular Birds of Prey and Much More
GreivögelThe Tambach Castle Game Park draws people all year round with "pure nature". The highlights in the largest game park in northern Bavaria include spectacular flying demonstrations by the Bavarian Hunting Falcon Court. The Tambach Hunting and Fishing Museum is located very close to the game park. It houses, among other things, a significant collection of hunting weapons and a bat observation station.

Other Destinations
Seßlach Other worthwhile destinations in the Coburg region include:

* The Ahorn Equipment Museum in the old sheep farm (Alte Schäferei) with equipment and items from the history of everyday life on the farm;
* The medieval village of Sesslach with its historic town centre, which is surrounded by a completely preserved city wall;
* The Bad Rodach hot springs, which invites you to relax and switch off.

If you don't want to pick a specific destination, then we recommend a guided castle and fortress tour for your group. The Coburg Tourismus & Congress Service would be happy to give you more information on this.
